DORT Test is a road worthiness test to make sure a vehicle is fit to be driven on cypriot roads and that Co2 Emmissions are of an acceptable level.
3. Which vehicles require a DORT test ?
Any vehicle over 4 years old from the date of first registration in its country of origin will require a DORT.

A DORT lasts for 2 years.
5. What does SVA stand for ?
SVA stands for Single Vehicle Approval.
6. What is an SVA ?
An SVA is a test for vehicles imported without EU type approval to make sure that they conform to EU road safety standards.
7. Will my vehicle require any modifications to be registered in the Cyprus ?
If your vehicle does not have EU type approval your vehicle will be required to undergo an SVA test and some modifications will be required to pass this test.
8. Will i have to pay import duty when importing a vehicle into Cyprus ?
This will depend on where the vehicle has been imported from if it has come from within the EU your will not have to pay duty if it has been imported from out side of the EU duty will be payable unless you qualify for tax relief.
9. How is vehicle import duty caculated in Cyprus ?
In Cyprus vehicle import duty is calculated based on the Co2 emmissions of the vehicle being imported.
10. Will i have to pay VAT when importing a vehicle to Cyprus ?
This depends on where your vehicle has come from if it has been imported from within the European Union you are not required to pay VAT unless it is a new vehicle if it has been imported from outside of the European Union (EU) you will have to pay VAT unless you qualify for tax relief in Cyprus.
